Geographical situation
It is situated in the north-eastern part of Romania, on the border with Ukraine and Moldavia, between the Siret river (in the west) and Prut (in the east).

4,986 square km (respectively 2,1% of the country’s territory).

462,370 inhabitants.

Botoşani, capital of the county, with 120,000 inhabitants, placed in the Plain of Jijia.
